Class Description: In this workshop, you will be introduced to the use of hand tools used in furniture-making. You will learn how to sharpen a hand plane iron and a chisel. Through a series of exercises, you will learn how to incorporate hand tool use into your work. These include exercises in hand sawing, hand planning, chisel use, and use of the spokeshave. If you already have tools, feel free to bring them and we can help you set them up. If not, there is no need to purchase tools prior to class, we have tools that you can try out here and we can discuss different options. An emphasis will be placed on how proper body mechanics will aid in effective hand tool use. Come and learn how the world of hand tool woodworking can enhance your work.

Tools: Students will not need to purchase any tools for the workshop. We will use the tools in the school shop. If you already have tools, feel free to bring them and we can help you set them up.
Material: The material for this class will be supplied so that you can practice and take home the skills that you learn.
