Class Description: With the assistance of a parent, children will build a Shaker step stool. The course will teach them skills in proper layout, cutting with hand and portable power tools, and shop safety.
Children taking this course will, with the assistance of a parent, construct a Shaker style step stool. Children in the class will learn about how to lay out tapers and curves, they will cut out curved pieces with the assistance of their parents, will learn how to cut to length, and will learn about glue up and assembly. The stool is made from a single 6’ 1×8. The instructor will teach proper tool use, shop safety, and will assist participants in building their stools. The skills learned building this small project will transfer to larger projects in the future.

Class Size: 3 – 6 adult/child pairs
